Main players line up for inaugural potato event.
Momentum is rapidly growing for the Potato X event this May with the majority of the main potato machinery manufacturers confirming their presence at the show. “Surprisingly quite a lot has happened in the potato machinery world since the event at Harrogate last November. Although the event was well attended there will be a significant number of growers new to such an event, especially in the eastern counties where those growers will have the chance to see a large cross section of the potato industry for the first time in a few years”. A good selection of new products will be debuted at the event from such companies as AVR, Tong Peal, Crop Systems, Scotts and Niagri Engineering.
The team at Potato X are confident that the event can grow from year to year providing there is a demand. “I think judging by the enthusiasm and stand bookings thus far we can expect a very successful event, which we intend to build on for future years” Derek Scott is quoted as saying. “so far we have resisted the temptation to make this a working demonstration, but for 2009 we are looking seriously at offering exhibitors the chance of demonstrating in-store machinery .
We are expecting to be registered for NRoSO points in time for the event. Although the show comes with national billing we have encouraged a local feel to the show with the inclusion of Chandlers Farm Equipment, G & J Pecks and Burdens Group. These 3 companies alone are hugely important to the local potato growers all strongly promoting their range of field and in-store franchises.
The event will run from the 21st to the 22nd of May and will be well signposted from all major roads. Doors open from 9am to 5pm daily with refreshments on hand throughout the day. For more details on the event and who’s there you can get up to the minute information on the website www.potatox.com
There is an entrance fee of £5.00 per day with a percentage going to Notts and Lincs Air Ambulance and other local charities. Car parking is free on both days.
Any companies still wishing to exhibit at the event still just have time providing they contact the event office quickly on 01205 358000 or Derek on 07831757283
